According to recently published data from the National Community College Benchmark Project, Washtenaw Community College students’ success rates exceed the national median, in some cases by a wide margin.

Colleges that participate in the NCCBP submit data on a wide array of performance areas and receive a report that compares the college’s data with the aggregate results of all consortium colleges.

“The NCCBP is a check on how we are doing,” said Roger Mourad, Ph.D., director of institutional research at WCC.

“It’s one way of assessing ourselves.”

In 2014, a total of 261 community colleges participated in the NCCBP, nearly one-quarter of all community colleges nationally. WCC scored higher than the NCCBP median in almost every curricular outcome category.

“We have really dedicated instructors who have high standards for our students,” Mourad said. “They work very hard to help our students succeed.”
