A new art exhibit honoring the resilience, determination and contributions of the working class is featured in The Gallery at Washtenaw Community College (WCC).
The new exhibit, “Strength and Grit: Celebrating the Working Class,” is on display through September 10 and explores the everyday struggles and triumphs of individuals who form the backbone of society.
The Gallery, with free admission, is located in the Morris Lawrence Building on the WCC campus, 4800 E. Huron River Drive. The public is also invited to a reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11.
“Strength and Grit” invites audiences to reflect on the importance of the working class in shaping our society. Through powerful stories and evocative art, this exhibition aims to inspire admiration and recognition for those who embody resilience and determination in their daily lives.
The 19 featured artists showcasing over 30 pieces of work are from all over the country, including one WCC student, three WCC art instructors and several others from the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area.
Rob Todd, chief fabricator for Flutter & Wow Museum Projects in Ann Arbor, is the juror and principal artist for the show. He works in wood, metal and plastics, and focuses his efforts on providing local businesses, individuals, friends and family with well-crafted furniture, signs and more. Todd will be displaying two pieces in the show.
