At Washtenaw Community College, our mission has always been rooted in the future — preparing students not only for today’s jobs, but for the opportunities that will define tomorrow.
For 60 years, WCC has served as a bridge between education and opportunity — empowering individuals, supporting families, and fueling local industry. We know that access to affordable, high-quality education transforms lives and strengthens the fabric of our community.

We see our role as both educator and community builder, ensuring the talent developed in Washtenaw County continues to strengthen our local economy and improve the quality of life for everyone who lives here.
That role is on full display with the opening of our new Electric Vehicle and Battery Lab. This state-of-the-art space represents far more than an investment in technology — it’s an investment in Michigan’s future.
The lab gives students hands-on experience with electric vehicle systems, charging infrastructure, and battery diagnostics, while ensuring local employers have access to the skilled technicians and engineers they need to stay competitive.
Electric vehicles are transforming transportation, and Michigan — the birthplace of the automotive industry — is once again leading the next revolution in mobility.
Through innovative facilities like this, WCC helps keep our region at the forefront of that transformation.
This is what WCC does best: we listen to our industry partners, understand their challenges, and create programs that meet real-world demands.
Whether in manufacturing, health care, information technology, or business, we continue to design flexible, relevant pathways that connect education directly to high-wage, high-demand careers.
We’re proud to be a driving force in Michigan’s workforce development ecosystem — a trusted partner to employers and a launchpad for students.
And as the world continues to change, one thing will remain constant: our focus on preparing students to succeed in whatever the future holds.
