Department of Performing Arts department chair and jazz guitarist John E. Lawrence performed a repertoire of music from the 1930s and 1940s at the Ypsilanti District Library on April 13 during a presentation about the library’s current exhibition titled, “Our Lives, Our Stories: America’s Greatest Generation.” The exhibit explores the lives of the World War II generation – as told in their own words. Lawrence performed a variety of songs which included George Gershwin’s “I’ve Got Rhythm,” Glenn Miller’s “In The Mood” and Duke Ellington’s “It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing.” The exhibition lasts through May 25.
