A celebration of success
Washtenaw Community College celebrated its 47th commencement on May 16 with a joyous and enthusiastic ceremony at the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center. A total of 1,161 associate degrees and 436 certificates have been awarded.
Approximately 400 graduates were in attendance. Hundreds of families and friends witnessed the event.
“It was a tremendous day, and we are thankful to all our graduates for making WCC part of their educational, personal and career goals,” said Evan Montague, associate vice president for student recruitment and enrollment.
Highlights of the ceremony included remarks by WCC student Loren Townes, who earned an associate degree in business and WCC biology faculty member David Wooten, who shared inspirational thoughts with the soon-to-be graduates.
WCC supporter Molly Dobson was presented with an honorary degree in community service.
“We know you are well prepared for the next chapter of your life. Thank you for sharing your educational journey with us.” said WCC President Dr. Rose B. Bellanca.
