At Brainstream Creative, we help our clients prove their value through the art and science of filmmaking. I’ve been in the creative communications industry for 20 years, and I established Brainstream as a result of growing demand by people for my freelance video production services. The common theme among our clients, regardless of organizational size or type, is that leadership and staff recognize that the success of their clients is in their best interest and they work hard (and innovate) to achieve that goal. Businesses that will benefit the most out of working with us have already invested in developing their branding and online marketing presence and are looking to optimize their existing efforts.

What drives you to be a business owner?

The challenge of entrepreneurship is what draws me to it and I also believe that I can have more of an impact in favor of my clients than if I was their employee. As an entrepreneur I have flexibility to ensure the success of a client’s project, that you don’t always have in a traditional 9-5 job. Finally, stepping into entrepreneurship has been a tremendous growth experience: I’m a better human being because of it and I’m looking forward to the life long journey this path is taking me on.

How has the Entrepreneurship Center at WCC helped with your business goals?

I discovered the Entrepreneurship Center in its early days: Kristin was very welcoming and helpful while I was investigating the first steps of forming a business. Starting a business is stressful and the staff really works hard to make sure entrepreneurs at all stages have the education, training, and resources they need to take those steps. The “Bootcamp” series around the creative industries are a regional hidden gem for networking, and information that is often limited or elusive in an academic environment.

If you could offer one piece of advice for fellow entrepreneurs or prospective entrepreneurs, what would it be?

Be sure you’re ready before you start (financially, understanding your product/service and its place in the market, and being willing to fail) but most importantly make sure you start… so many stars fizzle out before the universe ever witnesses their light and that’s sad.
