Kathy Stewart

I serve as the Success Coach for the REACH Program here at Washtenaw Community College. Established in 2015 through a grant from the State of Michigan, REACH supports WCC students with experience in foster care as they work toward their educational and personal goals.

WCC holds a special place in my heart because it’s where my own college journey began! As a proud WCC alum and someone who grew up in foster care, I understand how life circumstances can sometimes delay the path to higher education. I always wanted to go to college, but like many of our students, my journey took persistence and determination. When I finally made it to WCC, it became one of the best decisions of my life.

WCC provided the foundation I needed to continue my education, and I went on to earn both my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from Eastern Michigan University. Today, I’m grateful to give back to the college that helped shape my own journey by supporting students as they navigate college, overcome barriers, and work toward their goals.
