2024 Student Art Show

The WCC Student Art Show is designed to promote and celebrate the art created by WCC students in our art classes.

Join us in this celebration by viewing the 2024 exhibition virtually on our online gallery, or in person from March 15 – April 15. To view the work in person, please visit the second floor of the WCC Student Center located at 4800 E. Huron River Dr. We will be hosting the annual Student Art Show Open House on April 4th from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Join us to view the work and learn more about WCC art courses and programs in a relaxed setting. This year's formal award announcement will be held in person during the Student Art Show Open House.

This year's show will be adjudicated by Jason F, Full Professor in 3D and Foundations at Eastern Michigan University.

Jason Ferguson, Professor, Eastern Michigan University

Jason J Ferguson uses humor, the uncanny, and an absurdist voice to create public interventions, performances, videos, and sculptural objects. He received his BFA from Towson University in Baltimore and continued his studies at the University of Delaware where he completed his MFA in 2006. Ferguson’s work has been exhibited internationally including venues in Tokyo, Japan; Berlin, Germany; São Paulo, Brazil; Tirana, Albania; Kolderveen, the Netherlands; as well as national venues in New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, Virginia, and he recently filled two rooms at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. His artwork has been featured in publications including the 3D Additivist Cookbook, SCULPTURE magazine, SciArt Magazine, Hyperallergic, Artifizz, the Chicago Art Review, and more. He has received awards and grants for his studio work and was the first ever recipient of the Manifest Grand Jury Prize in 2018.

All pieces in the show were made in a WCC art course from Fall 2021 through Winter Fall 2023. This year's formal award announcement will be held in person during the Student Art Show Open House on April 4, 2024.
