Washtenaw Community College will host Race to Talent to help employers grow their workforce through on-the-job skills training and education partnerships.
The free event will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, November 14, in room 101 of the Morris Lawrence Building on the WCC campus (see directions and campus map).
Co-sponsored by WCC and Michigan Works! Southeast, the event is designed to break down barriers to Registered Apprenticeships and open opportunities for employers, educators and workforce leaders in the state.
Employers interested in learning more about apprenticeships and how to partner with WCC to customize their own apprenticeship programs are asked to register at www.mwse.org/racetotalent. Representatives from all sectors are invited.
Attendees will learn how apprenticeships can drive innovation, retention and long-term growth. Additionally, employers will tour WCC’s advanced manufacturing, CNC, welding, automotive and other labs for an up-close look at the college’s training facilities and opportunities for customizing apprenticeship programs.
Representatives from WCC, Michigan Works! and the state’s Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity will present, along with other business leaders sharing insights on the benefits of apprenticeship programs.
The event will also include a Q&A with experts, networking opportunities and step-by-step guidance on how to launch or expand Registered Apprenticeship programs.
