Internships and Co-ops
Many successful professionals began their careers with experiential learning.
What's the difference?
- Cooperative Education (Co-op): Earn academic credit while gaining hands-on experience in your field. Co-ops help you build career skills, expand your network, and may help offset college costs. Most technical, business, and computer programs at WCC offer co-op opportunities. Eligibility: good academic standing and completion of at least two courses in your field.
- Internships: Gain practical experience, industry-specific skills, and professional connections to explore career interests.
- Micro-Internships: Short-term, paid projects (10–40 hours, often remote) that let you develop skills, explore careers, and network without a long-term commitment.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeship is an employer-driven, "earn while you learn" model that combines on-the-job training provided by the employer with related instruction at Washtenaw Community College.
Career Fairs
The Center for Career Success connects students and alumni with employers through a range of in-person and virtual events including career fairs, networking sessions, employer visits, and specialty programs held throughout the academic year.
