Proctoring Forms
- External Proctored Exam Form (for students) (available soon)
- Test Administration Instructions form (for faculty) (available soon)
Selected WCC classes are listed as “Online Classes with In-Person Testing Required” or “Virtual Classes with In-Person Testing Required.” For these classes, students are required to take the midterm and final exams in person. These classes will not be proctored through online services such as Honorlock and will not be proctored through zoom.
In addition to existing academic integrity policies, students enrolled in these online courses are required to be proctored in-person for both the midterm and final exams on the required dates (dates communicated during the registration process). All proctored testing will require a photo ID.
Option 1: The student may test at the WCC Testing Center.
This is a free, drop-in service available to all students currently enrolled in WCC courses. Please review the full set of policies and guidelines and consult the current Testing Center open hours before coming to test at the WCC Testing Center. (See syllabus for details/options.)
Option 2: The student may arrange proctoring for the midterm and final exam at another approved location.
If testing at another location, the student is responsible for securing a qualified proctor to administer both exams and must submit the “external proctored exam form” before the deadline listed in the course syllabus. (This is typically within the first week of term.)
- Locate a Qualified Proctor:
It is the student’s responsibility to locate and arrange for the proctor. Students interested in this option should check for proctoring services at nearby colleges and libraries. An incomplete list of proctoring centers is available from the National College Testing Association. Members of the military in active duty can be proctored by a ranking officer. Dual-enrolled high school students may arrange proctoring with an instructor or administrator at their school. Family members, friends, and co-workers cannot proctor exams.
Please note: Students are responsible for all fees associated with proctored testing. - Complete the External Proctored Exam Form:
Before submitting the external proctored exam form, students will confirm the exam date, time, and location with the qualified proctor. A separate “External Proctored Exam Form” must be completed and submitted for each exam, even if using the same proctor. Both forms must be sent via WCC email to the faculty member by the deadline. Late or missing forms may result in loss of the exam opportunity. Students and proctors will receive email confirmation from the faculty once the form is accepted. If no confirmation is received within 48 hours, students must follow up with the faculty member.
For proctors: At the beginning of the term, the course instructor will reach out to proctors to confirm proctoring arrangements and establish clear lines of communication.
As the scheduled exam date approaches, the instructor will send the exam materials—along with detailed administration instructions—directly to the proctor.
Following the exam, proctors are asked to collect the paper copy of the exam and return all materials to the instructor promptly, typically by scanning and emailing them as a PDF. Proctors should retain the paper copy until the instructor confirms receipt of the exam, then shred that copy.
To ensure a smooth and secure testing experience, proctors are kindly asked to follow these steps:
- Print the exam in advance
- Verify the student’s photo identification
- Review and provide the exam instructions
- Confirm use of an approved calculator, if applicable
- Ensure all electronic devices are turned off and stored away
- Supervise the student for the full duration of the timed exam
If there is any concern regarding academic integrity during the exam, proctors are expected to immediately stop the session and notify the instructor without delay.
Please be aware that failure to follow exam guidelines and procedures—by either the student or the proctor—may result in the invalidation of the exam.
We sincerely appreciate your support in maintaining a fair and professional testing environment.

In-Person Proctoring
This course will require in-person proctoring for the midterm exam and the final exam. Students have the following options:
- Option 1: Students come to WCC campus twice (midterm and final) and complete face-to-face testing at the WCC Testing Center.
- Option 2: If a student is unable to come to the WCC campus, the student is responsible for securing proctoring for the midterm and final exam at another approved location, at their own cost.
Students must complete the “Proctoring Quiz” on Canvas by [DEADLINE HERE] to review all necessary information and instructions about proctoring options and submit their plan. Those using an external proctor must also obtain instructor approval by this date. Failure to submit an approved plan and complete related attendance assignments by the reporting deadline may result in being marked as non-attending.
More information about policies and procedures can be found at the WCC Math Department Website.
Use Canvas “Proctoring Quiz” for Attendance Reporting
As part of attendance and verification, students must complete the Proctoring Quiz on Canvas. Please remind them to do this early in the course and set an early deadline - at least several days before the drop deadline. If a student hasn’t completed the quiz, send a reminder email and subsequently report them as non-attending if appropriate.
Confirm External Proctoring at Start of Term
During the first week of term, keep a close eye on your email for any student inquiries regarding proctoring site arrangements. While you are not responsible for locating a site on their behalf, you are welcome to assist or troubleshoot with them at your discretion.
Once you have received a student’s two completed External Proctored Exam Forms via WCC email, please begin the following steps:
- Verify the proctoring site(s) – Take a moment to review the proposed site online and ensure the contact information appears legitimate.
- Reach out to the proctor(s) – Send the “start of term message” provided below (or a similar version) to the contact listed on the form.
- Confirm with the student – Email the student to let them know their proposed plan has been approved.
