Leslie Sobel

Leslie Sobel is the artist daughter of two scientists. Her  artwork reflects her love of the outdoors and her deep concern about climate change. She works integrating wilderness fieldwork in remote places with scientists and time in the studio.  She works in mixed media frequently incorporating photography, scientific data, painting, printmaking, sculpture and performance. She has shown widely and curates exhibitions focused on climate and social justice issues. Grants include an upcoming cruise on the Arctic Circle in 2021, Puffin Foundation and Puffin Foundation West, residencies on the Eclipse Ice Field, Colorado Art Ranch, the Loomis Chaffee School, & several Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs Professional Development Grants. She has taught many workshops and enjoys helping others grow their creative practices. University of Hartford Nomad Interdisciplinary MFA 2020, BFA University of Michigan School of Art 1983.
