Bebe Moore Campbell was a fierce mental health advocate, author and teacher who worked diligently with legislators to create more equity for access to mental health care.

On July 2, 2008, the United States Congress officially recognized the month of July as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental Health America encourages calling July BIPOC Mental Health Month to be more inclusive.

#BeyondTheNumbersThis year’s theme for BIPOC Mental Health Month is #BeyondTheNumbers

In the spirit of Bebe Moore Campbell, this month highlights the challenges and struggles that Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) face when accessing mental health care. Mental Health America shares additional statistical information surrounding this issue.
