Minimum Computer Literacy Skills and Technology Requirements
To be successful in your WCC class, you should have a general knowledge of computers, file management skills, and internet skills. Plus, you need to have access to Blackboard (WCC’s Learning Management System) and the internet for the entire course duration. Remember online course content will be delivered in multiple formats, including but not limited to webpages, MS Word and pdf documents, video, and audio formats. Therefore, you may need to install the recommended plug-ins for each type of media.
Netiquette
Apply the Core Rules of Netiquette by being civilized, professional, and courteous in all online communications, just as you would in face-to-face communications. Use correct spelling and grammar, which includes not typing in all caps as well as not using slang, text-speak, curse words, obscene language, or other non-standard English.
Most of all, you need to avoid responses that are highly critical, sarcastic or ridiculing ("flaming"). Remember, there is a human on the sending and receiving sides of all online communication.

Accommodations
Disability Accommodations
Students who have a documented disability need to contact Learning Support Services (LSS) to set up accommodations.
New students will need to provide documentation of a disability. At times, additional or updated disability documentation may be required. The student will be contacted to provide this information to determine eligibility for accommodations.
To get started, please visit Learning Support Services .
Students need to complete and submit a Service Request form (required each semester). Documentation may be uploaded to this form. A Program Specialist will review the request and documentation and then contact the student to discuss accommodations.
If you have any questions, contact Learning Support Services (LSS) at 734-973-3342 or email [email protected]
Accommodations are not retroactive. After approval, the Program Specialist will prepare a letter confirming accommodations. The letter is sent via email to instructors with a copy to the student. It is important for students to follow up with their instructors regarding implementing accommodations. If there are any questions or concerns, students should also contact the LSS Program Specialist on the accommodation letter.
Pregnant Students
The College recommends that pregnant students be proactive in communicating their situation with their instructor and WCC support offices. Pregnant students should contact the Dean of Students office by completing the Pregnant Student Information/Adjustments form for pregnant student information or as soon as possible if they encounter medical situations that are affecting their ability to attend classes.
