Mind Your Mental Health

Established in 1949, the purpose of creating a Mental Health Awareness Month is to highlight the importance of our mental health and to help reduce stigma around this topic.  While the stigma surrounding mental health is still prevalent, we are luckily seeing that it is reducing some.  According to Mental Health America, 19% of adults in the United States live with some form of mental illness.

Mental Health Awareness Month logoTo help raise awareness and to promote wellness, the WCC Personal Counseling team will have tables set up throughout campus during the month of May.  Grab a stress ball, a few mints, and some helpful resources!

WCC has personal counselors available to assist students through difficult life experiences. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental illness and needs support, please consider calling the WCC Counseling & Career Planning Department at 734-677-5223 to learn more about what services are available.

If you are dealing with a mental health emergency and need immediate support, call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255, 911 or visit your nearest emergency room.

As a WCC student you also have access to ProtoCall and WellTrack.
