Description and responsibilities: Washtenaw Technical Middle College (WTMC) is a high school located on the campus of Washtenaw Community College. We support student success in college coursework and college completion by providing meaningful educational choices, individualized advising, and skill-based instruction. Applicants for this position should be comfortable moving fluently between the needs of a K-12 learning environment and the expectations of higher education.
This is a full-time position as the school’s lead administrator in charge of day-to-day operations. Administrator responsibilities (90%) include student conduct and discipline, oversight of clubs and activities, crisis management planning, extracurricular event supervision, and participation in administrative team decision-making. The position runs the WTMC school year plus 8-10 summer days in the office. Teaching duties (10%) will be assigned based on experience and credentials, 1-2 sections per year.
Required qualifications: Current or pending (i.e. enrolled in a State-approved program) State of Michigan School Administrator Certificate and current valid Teaching or Counseling Certificate. Applicants must be able to provide developmentally appropriate discipline consistent with the WTMC philosophy of student growth, and support first-generation college students in successful completion of post-secondary credentials. The ability to work collaboratively, to stay organized, and to use or learn schoolwide digital tools are absolute requirements for this position.
Strong candidates will have five or more years of teaching experience and three or more years in a school leadership role.
